Comment: We mostly get into the AJ's at rigs starting at 250+ Live hardtails are almost automatic. 80-100lb mono or braid with a 130lb leader, 12/0 cicle hook paired with a heavy rod, 9/0 Penn Senator is my favorite setup...don't forget the back brace!

Comment: The great amberjack is my fav. fish to catch. When fishing for AJ's i like to use a 100 lb. leader 5 ft, a big ball bearing swivel, and a 9 oz dimond jig. These fish love to hit the lure on the way down. So have ur drag kinda tight, and thumb on the spool, other hand ready to like the spool for ur hit.

Comment: Always fun to catch as they are extremely hard fighters that will tire you out quickly. Travel in small schools and will hit most anything in front of them from Diamond jigs to whole bluefish. They are easy to catch around almost any gulf platform where the water is clear. But watch out as they will always run straight for the legs to break you off!
