AKA Tower lake, Cougar lake is located on the SIUE Campus in Edwardsville, IL. This will be my first time getting out this entire year, (employment sucks), and with the heat index projected @ 105, my hopes are not too high. I have only fished near the marina before, and am bringing my bicycle early in the morning so that i can make it around the entire lake by the end of the day. Timne permitting, I may also hit the lake on fridaq afternoon and evening.
I used Mr Twister swimshads here on friday night. The fishing wasn't great, and there is alot of weeds to contend with.
Location Details:
During spawn the large bass come to the right side of this penninsula (if you make a trip there, you'll see what i mean), and this is where i caught my present record at just under 6 lbs. No lagemouths today, though.
Gold/silver Rat-L Trap, cast it out into the current and let the current take it as far as it will go. Reeled in slowly
Location Details:
Frigid water pours out of a culvert here. Holy sweet mother of tim. I caught the 3 largest bass i have ever seen alive here! plus at least 10 others that were smaller, but still fun to catch. 3 over 6 lbs, the rest under 3.
Love Tower Lake. I fished for crappie there years ago and NEVER seen a bass. Now I catch 5+ LB. bass out of there regularly. AMAZING. I have a nice bass boat and fish tournaments but I have my best days on Tower Lake. Who would have ever thought! That lake is a GEM! Shhhhhhh.....
Goin back on tuesday near sunset to see if the fishing is as good as it was in the morning. Back to the culvert, the only reason i left was for a lack of water and a high temp (basically, i was a wuss). I'd bet i have just as good luck there @ night!!
The ranking score is used to determine how "popular" a trip or location is. It is calculated based off of a weighted average of the number of reviews and the user ratings. For example, a trip with 2 reviews and an average rating of 5 will have a lower "ranking score" than one with 10 reviews and an average rating of 4. This is because even though the first trip has a better average rating, it has not been reviewed as much as the second trip, so it is not as "popular". In the future we may modify the ranking score to take in additional factors, such as the number of views, comments, and photos.
my old record this was caught during the spawn of '06. feel free to comment on how big you think it is, i think between 5-6lbs 08/03/08 06:33 PM
